Excellent knife

I bought this ram knife because I needed a good skinning knife. It is an reasonably priced knife that is extremely sharp and the quality is very impressive. I would definitely buy again.

Ram Knife

Filling of my order was quick. Knife arrived on the third day after order was placed. Have not used the knife for skinning so these are initial impressions. Overall Knife size is perfect for my needs and comfort. If you like a fixed blade this is a great size for hunting, camping and hiking, ranch and farm use. Sheath also well made and fits the knife very snugly. Blade and handle quality; fit and finish are what I expected based on previous experience with Schenk Knives. Blade is well finished Elmax steel with rounded edges where appropriate on the back and at the choil with the cutting edge razor sharp. Handle's G-10 is smooth and still grippy. Size of handle is perfect for my hand size. Knife handle is vert comfortable in all positions with full hand push cuts with thumb on top and thumb wrapped around the fist(made some fire sticks), index finger on top or thumb resting in the choil for upward cuts. No hot spots at all on handle. One thing I would recommend. My index finger and middle finger rest within the choil in front of the downward swell. The distance across my fingers is 1 7/8 inches. My fingers fit in nice and snug within that span. However, I could see how someone with a two inch are more spread across their first two fingers may feel crowded on a full 4 finger fist grip. This may not be a problem since most of the time using that grip the main pressure is on top of the knife and not at the bottom. If you think it might be you can ask the staff about one of the other products such as the Musk Ox, Skeleton or Kodiak. Based on my experience with the staff they are more than glad to help you find the right product for you. In summary. Great product, great service and I would do business with Schenk again.
