About the Sasquatch BBQ Edition Kiritsuke:

Deep in the forest lurks a breed of a different kind. A hunter, not of animals, but a slayer cooking epic meals; surrounded by lush forests, dramatic waterfalls, sweeping mountain top views and an infinite sea of fir trees. A Sasquatch! For years Matt Crawford, of Sasquatch BBQ, has cruised the timber of Washington State. He's searching for prime real “esteak” to throw down succulent fire cooked meals and off-grid camp smoke sessions. On his quest, he relies only on his live fire cooking, Traeger Grill, powered by Goal Zero energy sources, and his "Sasquatch Forester" Kiritsuke. Not your typical BBQ guy or company, @sasquatchbbq has forged a path on Instagram showcasing his own take on all things cooked by smoke and flame. It’s only fitting for a grilling nomad to have a blade that embraces the inner Sasquatch in us all.

Introducing the “Sasquatch Forester”. The first knife in the Schenk Knives & Sasquatch BBQ collaboration series. This knife features an olive drab canvas micarta handle. That pop of orange is a G10 liner which helps locate the knife when you're cooking in the mountains. The fully contoured handle provides a natural feel and ensures there won't be any hot spots when serious work is being done. The glued handle construction is reinforced by carbon fiber pins to ensure generations of use.

The AEB-L stainless steel blade features the "war-zone' finish bringing the rustic feel of Sasquatch into this custom built chef knife. This high quality blade will keep your cuts clean and crisp. Every knife is backed by the Schenk Knives "Razorlife Warranty"; bringing you peace of mind and confidence in the product.

The leather slip cover is made from 8 oz. brown-dyed bridle leather that comes from one of the oldest tanneries in America, Wickett & Craig, USA. The sheath is accented with orange thread which brings the knife and sheath into perfect balance. Each knife and sheath is flawlessly hand-crafted by the artisans at Schenk Knives in Idaho Falls.

This product is for Production Round #3. We anticipate shipping these knives no later than June 10, 2021

What is a Kiritsuke Style Knife?

Kiritsuke knives are a hybrid design combining features of Japanese usubas and yanagibas. Usubas are dedicated vegetable knives while yanagibas are used to slice raw fish for sushi, as a consequence the kiritsuke is intended as a general purpose knife for use in preparing traditional Japanese cuisine. Many kiritsuke knives retain the single bevel design of the usuba and yanagiba so users should be aware of what using and maintaining single bevel knives entails. A number of makers now produce double bevel kiritsukes, often called kiritsuke gyutos, for western users who appreciate the striking aesthetics of the profile but need the added versatility of a double bevel grind. The kiritsuke’s reverse tanto profile makes the pointed tip very nimble but also delicate while the flat profile lends itself well to chopping and push cutting. (www.chefknivestogo.com)

*NEVER USE A DISHWASHER TO CLEAN YOUR CUSTOM KNIFE!!!!

*Just like all things, proper care should be given to the knife blade. We recommend cleaning with warm water and completely drying after use. We recommend applying food grade mineral oil to the blade immediately after drying to help preserve the blade. Always clean and oil your knife before extended storage. Never store your knife in the leather sheath for extended time periods.
